With ableton link you can sync the clocks, but (right now) you can’t send/receive a start or stop signal. Link was originally designed so that multiple users could jam together with their clocks sync-ed. It looks like Link v3 has included start/stop so maybe with time this will get added too. Yeah, the iVCS3 AU implementation seems incomplete - you can only access the VCOs and not the whole product... though it is cool that you can use the VCF as an FX plugin. The iVCS3 is one of my favorites so I hope ape will update it.

IDK - Reaper has a robust user forum so you can probably find out there, and dendy above said it would be updated in NS2 at some point. But I also need for NS2 to be able to generate MMC start/stop as well so I can trigger my iMS-20 app’s analog style sequencer.

Only the latest (v3) version of Link will transmit start/stop signals. Link was originally only for syncing clocks.

Well FWIW I added Autony (another algorithmic sequence generator like Riffer) as a MIDI fx unit with Obsidian and it does work, but you can’t record the MIDI it generates (I think this has to do with the placement of the MIDI FX in NS2). Hopefully that might also get addressed in future updates.

I did something similar and left an app review for riffer (it hasn’t been posted yet) - it wasn’t overly critical, but yeah it seems pointless to have it as an instrument... they just updated it a week ago, so at least they are active...

Thanks for the help - Xequence does have Link and I can send and sync tempo data but not start/stop on the transport which is key for this to work. How did you get it to work? I’m Running riffer externally,” Riffer MIDI_Out” shows up in NS2 on my obsidian track as MIDI input, but won’t trigger any notes when I play in riffer, NS2 does not show up in riffer as a MIDI destination. I’m using other apps to send MIDI into NS2 so I have that part down...

Agreed! For sampling to pads or key zones, slate and obsidian already have that covered. I’m in the same boat - trying to leave Auria/Xequencer but need audio tracks and AB before I can finally make the switch. I’m loving NS2 (the sequencer is fabulous) and looking forward to updates that address Audio/MIDI recording. I’ve got too much $$$ invested in my non AuV3 synth apps to just abandon them.
