  • I also own Elsa. I'll have a play with it and report back.
  • @Audiogus - that GIF, isn't that from the film 'The Usual Suspects'? @flockz, yep I know that feeling. If I had a stupid income (which I don't) my wife would have filed a divorce with me by now for buying too much stuff I'd never use. I mean it's pretty bad already... But with dispensable income, I'd be a no-hope'r!
  • @dendy @flockz You're both talking shit! Haha! I change my mind so often, that one week when I think an app is pants, the next week I'll be singing it's praises! But I've always been loyal to Nanostudio over Beatmaker, and that's the main difference. I've been using iOS ever since owning the very first ever iPhone 3 and of…
  • This is why I didn't download it. But now I get asked the differences between the two (BM vs NS) and of course I don't know that answer because I don't own BM! But I absolutely hated BM2, just because its workflow was so bad.
  • Beatmaker 3 if I remember, went for free not that long ago. I missed that one. Now I'm going to abstain from purchasing while I wait for that to happen again.
  • I think you're right.
  • @dflux I did warn a couple of other developers in the light of this, and they are aware of the issue, and so is Blip Interactive, as Dendy confirms. Indeed. Sit tight, and an update will be with everyone soon.
  • It was a compliment. Your patches are loads better. Have you ever heard what the DX-11 is capable of? If anyone can emulate that, then I'll be super impressed! Here's the master of the DX-11, Mike Paradinas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4_VxWfaa2g
  • I think 'glitchy' was about right. I agree, great for that. But you can get the same kind of effect in Obsidian and having more control, it’s loads better.
  • Wow! Some fantastic patches there Zupi! And you’ve really exposed just how brilliantly coded Matt's FM model is. These easily sound as good as anything that has ever come out of my old DX-27. The FM basses are some of the best I’ve heard yet. As for that Universe patch? Bloody hell. So simple, yet so effective.
  • Keyboard not so much of a problem. :D
  • LOL! Class! And I could hear it too. All those frequencies... All outta sync with one another. In fact the clip was about 2 seconds long. That's 6 zillion random frequencies... all outta sync with each other!
  • This is now annoying me. Me and my big fat gob! It's probably me who has the untrained ear (I could never beat match- which is why I never made a techno DJ). Listen to nothing but white noise for an hour and you'll hear everything and anything- including Count Basie and Buddy Rich's entire big band stuck in an elevator, as…
  • Reslice imo is a lot better a choice than that feature in NS1.
  • I remember that function. But I'm afraid your answer (AFAIK) is no. However, what you can do is arbitrarily control the sample start, end and loop points, which can be a lot of fun.
  • Yeah, I have to say this one really gets me too. I used to prefer to be able to edit a name of a project while it's open. But there is a good reason for this behaviour. Because if you rename while open, you end up with two projects both almost identical- which can also become a nightmare to manage later on. With NS1 for…
  • Unfortunately I don't own BM3 so I can't do a comparison test using my old iPad 4 (if BM3 even works on my iP.4). But my experience was exactly the same as anickt's. Egoist on its own works really well though on my iPad 4, but of course that's obvious why that is.
  • Sure, but this may as well turn in to a race to the bottom. Just because Egoist 'in theory' will work on an iPad Mini 2, that doesn't mean it'll work particularly well. :D
  • @King not necessarily the case. You have an old Mini2 with an A7 processor. That may be a contributing factor here. In fact I'd say it is a contributing factor. Remember the downbeat is barely noticeable. Try the same using a more up-to-date iPad first. I've just tested it on my iPad Pro, Egoist on second track as AUv3,…
  • I can hear it. The bass drum (soft) over time drifts very slightly lagging slightly behind the downbeat. It may be better to re-record it without the metronome on. I suspect this is probably the fault of the plugin and not Nanostudio, for having all those dumb 'heath robinson-like' graphics! It's very subtle but it's…
  • Obsidian not only as a synth, but also as a sampler is in fact incredibly powerful. Way more powerful in many ways to my old E-MU Emulator E4 which was to many considered the DADDY of samplers. There is very little Obsidian cannot do.
  • It’s convoluted. You cannot directly import NS1 projects but you can export Trg-16 kits and import them into NS2 as you can the same with MIDI files. But synth patches and plugins in the mixer section, all that you have to do manually.
  • I think what @tja is referring to @dendy is akin to a 'zoom quantise'? For example having the ability to see one octave or two or three etc. And one, two or three etc bars horizontally, with scrolling up and down, left to right snapping to whatever the snap is currently set at. I can see that being useful for those who…

  • I can change the size of the fonts. Anyway, for an old fart like me, this is a good thing, without having to pull out by specs. Yours, Gramps.
  • @blueveek can I ask for another MIDI plugin request? Sevish built this rather groovy little MIDI scaler tool to process incoming MIDI inputs to output: "MidiNoteScaler is a MIDI effect. You specify a source EDO and an output EDO, and it will change the MIDI note number of all incoming note messages. Example use case: you…
  • I’m slightly spoilt here now. This is a 10.5” iPad Pro which I got for silly cheap money. Theoretically, anything should work! But notice that four letter word... 'work'... All this power, and I’m still tapping away on online forums!
  • That’s actually a genius idea! Thanks!
