Sorry that one went to my wishlist for initial release. I've built in the low level support for it but didn't get to the editor. Would be interested on how you'd expect to see the editing implemented.

Yes, an iPhone version's in the pipeline and it'll definitely be in the first half of 2019. I'm going to be deliberately sketchy on the actual date because my history of predicting times is halfway between rubbish and appalling. Fitting it all on the phone is a bit of a challenge but it is possible in the same way you can…

I tried variable velocity for the smaller pad views but found the touch space was too small for me to get the results I intended. I normally lay in a beat with a fixed velocity and then revisit some of the pads in the single view to overdub a variable velocity version. Using two fingers to get a high hat with accents works…

I'm guessing it's about 95% C++ (with assembler for the DSP), and Objective C just used where there's no other choice. I always immediately wrap Objective C in a C++ interface in case Apple go and screw me over one day by changing everything. As Michael and Bram say, you can't use Objective C or Swift for audio as they're…

The mod wheel and sustain pedal requests seem to be pretty common so I'll add them to my list.
-
Obsidian doesn't implicitly map the sustain pedal, but you can obtain similar results by mapping the controller to Obsidian's Knob 2, which is usually the amp release for most patches. You can do this via the mixer's setup page for the track: https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/nanostudio2/user-manual/Mixer.html#track-setup…

Yes, that's the one.

Someone on the NS1 forum did find a way to extract NS1's data from an iOS 11 device, but I don't have access to that forum currently! I'll have a word with my host as I think it's still accessible - if so, I'll try and dig out the relevant info and put it up - give me a day or so.
-
Yep sorry, I changed it as I felt it was unfair on Intua to have that title riding on top of the forum's list. I'm sure they've worked very hard too and didn't want to see them flamed.

Take a look at https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/nanostudio2/user-manual/Slate.html#factory-kits-and-samples to understand how Slate's samples are organized.

I was trying my best to start a clean sheet with regards to the older technologies. But I may have miscalculated on the level of desire for Audiobus, so I'm definitely considering a 'light' integration (just the ability to get audio in/out etc.) I'd be reluctant to do the whole state saving malarkey though.

I'll do the job properly, don't worry. It responds nicely on my desktop version.
-
It depends on the AU. Sounds like it's not handling MIDI thru properly. What AU are you using?
-
Yep, the compressor's SC FILTER knob works on both internal and external side chains. Low pass in one direction, high pass in the other. So you should be able to isolate the kick fairly easily. If you're bored you could wire a side chain mix through a dedicated track with an entire FX chain on it by using sends, but that's…

That's the take home message, right there!
-
I wouldn't worry too much if you feel it's not clipping. If the mixdown sees more than about 4 samples in a row going over the clip threshold then you'll get this just to let you know it's there, but if you can't hear it then it's probably fine. If you want to 'mute' that warning, put a limiter on the MAIN MIX track with a…

Yes that's fair enough. The story is that I really really wanted to get audio tracks in for launch but in the end I had to make a call on quality vs. features. I'm totally aware that audio tracks are essential for many, so I've tried my best to lay my cards on the table so people understand what they're getting now. Once…
-
Yes you're correct on both of these.
-
Staging two limiters in series and letting each one do half the work (with different settings) can sometimes get results. Also, if you don't want the limiting to be too obvious then try using a longer attack. Then it won't trigger so much on fast transients and will brickwall clip them instead (which you should be able to…

What's in there is finished, and hopefully finished to a high standard with no significant bugs. I've tried to publicize it as 'there's more I would like to add' so people are as clear as possible on what they are getting and what they're not getting. I'd rather have no customer than an unhappy or disappointed one. I'll…

Yes, it's fair to knock a star off for that but not all of them! I think that in this brave new world it's possible for developers to reply to reviews, so I'll try and encourage him to present his case here and let him know that he will be listened to if it's a good one.

@TheMediocritist Thanks for the vid, very helpful - this is definitely a new one on me but I'm sure we can get to the bottom of it. I'll collect a bit more data if possible: * Have you noticed any pattern behind it, eg. do you have a particular project which always does it or is it more general than that? * What's the…

Yep I've got a note about this one. Will be looking into it at some point, can't say when yet though.
-
Gah! I half got that done. I've catered for this in the code for the piano roll, but I never finished off the UI to go with it or to feel it was developed far enough to work well. Then to make the release date, I had to get tough with binning 'non-essentials' and it got the chop. So it's in my interest to finish this at…

Can you tell I've been through this dialogue a million times in my mind already? This is so much the problem. It's easy to think up functions, and come to an agreement that they'd be good. But fitting the little buggers in ...

To import or export Obsidian patches, use the bank list's MANAGE mode: https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/nanostudio2/user-manual/Obsidian.html#bank-list

Long press initiates a drag!

Yep, fair points - I'll take them on board, thanks.

First paragraph of the Getting Started guide in the manual tells you to read all about the common controls first: https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/nanostudio2/user-manual/GettingStarted.html I even put in a snarky remark because I knew you wouldn't :)
