Me too. Makes me wonder if there's time left at the end for any music to come out :)

Definitely a problem with these drag handles. I know it's probably difficult to remember, but do you think you were dragging them and then initiated a second operation with another touch? I'm just guessing at the moment but my working theory is that the drag operation was aborted by the start of second operation, and that…

You would have thought that since its only purpose is to share files, it would do that properly.

Yep, I can definitely see this being useful when audio tracks arrive. By surely by that time all other modern apps should be AUv3 rather than the tangled mess you suggest :p
-
Don't bloody ask me, I'm too old to know this sort of thing. Any 5 year old should know though :)

Air 2 still feels new to me. It just lives on my desk and doesn't have a scratch on it. Has a lot of grubby finger marks from the kids playing pink unicorn sparkle dust fairy or WTF it's called :)

Damn haven't got one of those. Might have to have a stab in the dark and see if it works for people in the next update.
-
I think the background music's a little loud too, and Steve agrees so he'll change it for future videos. It's a shame it's not possible to change existing videos on YouTube without changing the URL.

Hmm. Picture cropping. Crash. One of the only places in the app where I used someone else's library. I also hate crashes and lost work and know the frustration they cause so I'm very sorry to hear that. I've been meaning to look into regular autosaves so I'll add it to the list. I've also got recording of MIDI…

I'm going to add Audiobus support in a near-future update as it's been a popular request. Question is: Can I get away with just output from NS2 to Audiobus, or is there a valid case for input (ie. Audiobus to NS2) too? Output's pretty easy but input would need more UI work to select the input source. Only current use for…

I've made a note to get Bluetooth keyboards working again. They worked in NS1 - something went missing in the translation!

Not related to the OP I know, but Dropbox can be strange like this. Sometimes it seems to be related to the folder you're currently viewing. I can't remember the exact error it gives you but it's something like 'unsupported file type' if my sieve brain remembers correctly. At one stage it was doing this no matter what I…

Nice to see someone considering the considerations I've already made and didn't come to a quick conclusion on :) I built support into the piano roll to support different scales as I knew it'd be a PITA to add retrospectively but it's currently disabled as I didn't get the time to work through these questions. It's still on…

Thanks, that would be great if you could. I've been in communication with a number of AU developers but this would give me a bit more time back. I think he (or she .. I won't assume!) could make a fairly simple change as it looks like it's already capable of doing the right thing, but it's just choosing the wrong one due…

I added them because I thought they'd be a good idea but personally I've only found some cases where they're handy. You're correct - they allow a macro to act as a multiplier on the modulation value. eg. If you've got an LFO -> Osc pitch connection but you want Knob 1 to control how much influence the LFO has on pitch, you…

Yes it is - but it's with a different host who was cheaper for hosting large downloads. I don't expect the NS1 downloads to be used as heavily now, so I've moved them back onto the main one and finally got round to adding the downloads back to the NS1 page, which you'll find at the bottom:…

Yep, the patches are ultimately stored as folders so you're prevent from using certain characters when naming them. Unfortunately the question mark is reserved by file systems as a wildcard character. So stop asking questions! :)

It seems to be common knowledge that audio on the new iPad Pros is totally screwed. I believe the theory is that these devices have 8 cores, where 4 of them are fast ones (using more battery power) and 4 are slow ones (easier on battery life) and audio is run on the 4 crap ones. This makes sense for media players but makes…

OK, I'll add increasing the UI keyboard octave range to the wishlist, thanks.

I've already got Bluetooth keyboards (including MIDI controllers) on my todo list but the Apple Smart Case seems to work differently by connecting via 3 small metal pads. Excuse my ignorance but is this an iPad Pro specific thingamybob?
-
It would have been great if Apple had laid down the law with this but AFAIK there's no major overview, leaving it to be a bit of a battleground. I'm definitely scared of breaking more than I fix with radical changes like this. Of course it could be done with a user setting (eg. a similar thing to a MIDI thru toggle button)…

Good work around, but I agree that the sample editor should have the ability to set non-destructive start/end points. The icing on the cake would be to have the ability to set up to 32 slices (either as transients or regular beat intervals), and then generate a new Slate kit and MIDI sequence than you can paste into the…

Yep but I'm not saying it could be a shit design, it has been known! Seems like a new internal MIDI effect which works just like current external MIDI input filter could solve this (unless I'm overlooking the obvious).
-
I think it's a pretty grey area for host developers about where they should record MIDI from (well it is for me anyway!). At the moment, MIDI is recorded from the input going to the AU rather than the output coming from it. I can definitely see the benefit in recording the MIDI output instead (particularly for AUs with…
-
The MIDI input filter is designed to apply to external MIDI inputs (eg. from a hardware controller), so you can can use it to get a split keyboard in the way you intend. I'd have to think about any repercussions if it were moved so it applied to all MIDI input. I didn't get time to add any internal MIDI effects (just…

Host apps ask the AU for its list of presets, and the AU returns that list to the host. Mostly that works OK but there are a few gotchas: * A few AUs don't expose that list to the host, even though they're available from within the AU's editor. In this case, a friendly request to your local AU vendor would be the best…
-
100% correct :)
-
Although I wouldn't claim NS2's AU effect sizing is by any means perfect, this is something that could probably be detected and handled by the AU fairly easily. It looks like it's already got a reasonably responsive layout so it's most of the way there - it just needs to choose that AUM layout, as it has the width it needs.
-
I am aware and have a note to look into it. TBH the virtual MIDI ports have always confused the hell out of me - you can have an app register as a receiver that other apps can send to, or you can have senders that the other app receives from, or you can have both.
-
There are always compromises. I think Model D's polyphony on iOS is 4 notes - not sure on how much CPU that uses but I'm guessing there's a good reason for that limit. Obsidian's aimed at being the built-in workhorse synth and is designed around the 80/20 rule - it gets you by in approx. 80% of cases with approx. 20% of…
